Today was the first day at Whittier Elementary, also in Kenosha, WI. Whittier Elementary, is less racially diverse than Brass, but still has a diverse population of learners. Today we organized the library, created a schedule with the teachers, read to the kindergarten class, helped three third-grade classes find books, and started lesson planning. I decided I wanted to create an activity that helps my students to ask more questions when reading, as well as to help them to make inferences. I also decided that with some of my students I would like to do a thesaurus activity and to teach them why we use them, and what these materials offer.
